Emily relishes operatic roles and character-driven story telling. She is thrilled to be a Serena Fenwick Artist this year for British Youth Opera. Emily’s recent work includes performing the role of Oscar (A Masked Ball) for Opera on Location, in a new English translation of Verdi’s score by Ashley Pearson. For Trinity Laban she performed the roles of Queen Mary (Mary Queen of Scots), Sandrina (La Finta Giardiniera), Rosaura (Le Donne Curiose) and Mimi (La Boheme). Previously, she sang Anne Egerman (A Little Night Music) and Margery (The Dragon of Wantley) for Birmingham University Summer Festival Opera.
In recent competition success, Emily was delighted to be a prizewinner in the AESS Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition 2023 and the Peter Hearn Foundation Competition 2023.
An advocate for new music, Emily regularly collaborates with living composers and takes pride in actively programming recitals outside of ‘canonical’ expectations. Emily worked with Amelia Clarkson on a piece from her song cycle Run With Me in its second ever performance for the Irish Heritage Bursary Awards at Wigmore Hall (2022). She also performed in the world premiere of Edward Jessen’s sonic theatre work Syllable for Trinity Laban Opera (2022). As a curator, Emily worked with new music collective The Ruffians to produce and present a lecture-recital for Trinity Laban celebrating the unaccompanied upper voice; In Good (unac)Company, which was highly praised for its unique exploration of vibrant and under-represented repertoire.
Emily and her duo partner Roxanna Shini-Mehrabzadeh are SongEasel Young Artists. They were finalists in the Lillian Ash French Song Competition, Elisabeth Schumann Lieder Competition and Trinity Laban English Song Competition, coached by Eugene Asti and Helen Yorke. In the TLCMD concert series Different Worlds: Keyboard and Voice Festival 2023, they performed Libby Larsen’s song cycle My Àntonia.
A regular concert performer, Emily has sung as Soprano soloist in many works including Handel Messiah with Pakefield Singers, Mozart Requiem with Thames Philharmonic Choir and Vaughn Williams Donna Nobis Pacem with Dorking Choral Society.
